We all come across a point in our lives where we feel like many doors are closed off to us. In these tough times it can be frustrating and isolating. It takes great courage to not only create your own door but to open it and walk through it. Amanda Berube did exactly that! She found herself in that place after she moved from Maine her home state to a military base in Hawaii with her husband. She had a hard time finding a job and was often trying to fill in the free time she had. Fortunately she was in Hawaii so she was drawn to take photos of the beautiful surroundings and of course take some fun selfies. Amanda laughed and admitted that she took a fair amount of selfies and would edit them on her phone; which revealed to her how much she enjoyed the process of taking and editing pictures. Soon after she got a digital camera and started taking a lot more photos of friends, families and eventually shot her first couple of Weddings in Hawaii. Since she created this doorway to a path of photography, she immediately did a lot of research, asked a lot of photographers questions and jumped right in! Then she launched her own photography business in 2011 while in Hawaii called Amanda Berube Photography.
Amanda explained how being a military wife there is always the chance of being re stationed and having your own business that is mobile is perfect. Which is what happened to the Berube family next, they were relocated to Georgia. She found a job as a second shooter for a Wedding photographer in Georgia for six months and discovered wedding photography is her personal favorite. She branched off on her own and continued solely shooting weddings!
Amanda is now a well known destination photographer who has captured beautiful Weddings across the country, including Maine. She is an upbeat individual who genuinely enjoys bringing her artistic eye to assist any Wedding anywhere. Amanda is officially booked for the rest of 2015! Amanda Berube Photography has won the Wedding Wire’s Couple Choice Awards two years in a row, she has been featured in the Huffington Post, along with many accredited Wedding Magazines. Her natural light based photography is one that is not easily missed and she is excited to share that she is getting more into professional film photography. She explained how her goal is to always grasp the emotions in every photo and how with film photography she can capture the moment in an even more authentic way. In May, Amanda is looking forward to attending a Brushfire Photography workshop that will provide her with more knowledge that will enhance her photography skills… is that possible?!
